Abstract
The technology of Effective Microorganisms was introduced into Hawaii in
the mid 1990's. The program was expanded in 1998 due to the initial success
achieved with pilot projects. Thus at present, EM is used successfully
in crop production, waste management and in the hotel industry. It is also
used in odor control in Zoological Gardens. The product is also certified
in Hawaii. The basis of this success and the future projects of EM in Hawaii
are presented.
