Abstract
EM was applied to rice and wheat in 1997 and 1998 at Lalitpur in Nepal.
The treatments included different combinations of fertilizers and EM and
EM was sprayed at regular intervals. The impact was very prominent in rice,
where yields were raised by 15 - 20%. The benefits was not evident in wheat,
grown in the inter season, where yields of chemical and EM plots were similar.
The causal mechanisms are presented.
